| New WebMail System |
|
Currently, we have a split system; one that will scan all incoming e-mail and filter out spam and other unwanted e-mail - and then another e-mail system that actually holds the mail and allows the users to get their mail. At this point, BsnTech has now rolled these two systems together! Because of this, a new WebMail system has been finished. This is our attempt to continue to push towards the open source solutions for web and e-mail hosting. The mail server that was simply doing the content scanning (Exim4) has had extra features turned on to allow it to now be used as a fully featured mail server for all customer needs. Users who use Outlook or other computer-based e-mail programs will continue to use these and will connect in to the POP3 server called "Dovecot" here on our side. Those who simply use WebMail will have a new interface that is based on the "Horde" open-source WebMail solution. Horde has several features that we have added to it to make it appear like the WebMail system that will be phased out. It includes an address book, calendar, out-of-office reply notices, and the ability to change your password directly in the system. Over the next few weeks, all customers will be migrated over to the new system. E-mails that are currently in inboxes will be migrated to the new system, but contacts and calendar information will need to be set back up. |

We have yet some more exciting changes going on at BsnTech Networks! Over the past few weeks, a new e-mail system has been implemented. To see a larger version of the new WebMail system, click the picture just to the left.
