We provide complete web design ranging from personal web pages to complex e-commerce websites. Over the years, we have created web pages for small businesses and individuals. Many of the sites are no longer published online, but those that are published are listed to the left under "hosted sites". We sit down with the persons requesting a website to be created and go through the details of layout, contents, graphics, and other aspects of a good website. It is important that the client is excited about their site and believe it conveys an appropriate message in line with their mission statement or goals.
Websites can take an extensive amount of time to design and build depending upon the customer's requirements. Generally, a personal website consists of a few "static" web pages that include possible contact information, achievements, biographies, favorite links, and other personal information that they wish to publish online - including resumes. A step up from personal websites would be informative websites about the types of services or products a company has to offer. These websites may include newsletters, a calendar of events, and general information about products or services the company offers. These websites are more complicated than a personal website because they generally require "dynamic" web pages. The last type of website is an e-commerce site that allows the company to sell it's products online. These sites will require security certificates for secure transactions of credit card and customer information. These sites also require "dynamic" web pages. Generally, it takes several weeks to implement an e-commerce website because photos of the products and information about each of the products has to be entered into a database.
Static web pages are those that require an individual to type all content into the page, much like typing a document in a word processing application. All content is included in a static web page. Dynamic web pages employ many back-end services such as information from databases and require server-side scripting like PHP. They are called "dynamic" pages because the information can actually update itself. For example, on the BsnTech Networks home page, it shows the local weather. This information automatically updates every two hours to show any changes in the weather forecast without any user intervention. In addition, dynamic websites allow visitors to enter information, sign up for newsletters, and allow for many other interactive systems. The BsnTech Networks site is a dynamic page. What you don't see are hundreds of small files, scripts, and information stored in a database that run in the background and must be retrieved to make the page you are currently viewing.
The cost involved to create a website is done on an hourly basis. Personal websites or "static" websites will require much less time to develop and build. E-Commerce websites and "dynamic" websites that require products to be imported or other features to be setup will require extensive time for development and possible training on how to use the new extension of a client's business. Training would only be required if the client wishes to administer their own site. Generally, the nominal fee is $25 per hour for all design and maintenance services. This includes all the time involved from start to finish, including any consultations/meetings for development as well as continuing maintence, updates, or changes to the site. Unlike other providers, we do not round up on hours. we keep a log of all minutes spent producing a website to determine the final charge.
